THE KOMBAN

Komban means ‘the one with the largest tusk’ in Malayalam. He is the de facto protector of the elephant society and can live for up to 65 years.

The elephant in the emblem is very mature and stands immortalised – left-foot forward like a God. He wears a lotus-bud crown as he stands beneath an umbrella, armed with swords and shields.

Stoic, dignified and enduring. The words are distilled to define our efforts to date and pain, our heritage and culture, our spirit and future. We kept our origins close to our heart and found meaning in the Asian Elephant. An important animal all over India, and a close traditional pulse of the last warrior-state of Kerala.

And as we have always kept our origins close to our hearts, we have found meaning in this Asian Elephant. After all, it’s an important animal all over India and the traditional pulse of the last warrior-state of Kerala.

Others may choose a horse, lion, serpent or an imaginary dragon as an emblem, but nothing compares to the elephant. He can maintain calm composure at one moment, but he can also exhibit an outburst of rage. After all, he has the power to fell trees with his forehead and yet can carefully place a flower behind your ear in a calmer moment.

Indian handicrafts and architecture influenced our choice of font, but with a subtle connection to the future through the treatment of the repeated letter.

The font was influenced by Indian handicrafts and architecture, while keeping only a subtle connection to the future with the treatment of the repeated letter. Together with the intricate lines and the bevelled surface, the name carries more meaning when you say, “I drive an Aravind”.
